Real Results Matter: Calibrate Delivers Results that Last
Calibrate releases Inaugural Results Report and launches Results Guarantee, introducing the first outcomes-based model in obesity treatment.
When we launched Calibrate, we promised our members something different — a program that worked for the long-term. After 18 months, we’ve shown that Calibrate works, and we have the results to prove it. Our first-ever Results Report looks at the metabolic health outcomes of our members, showing an average of 15% weight loss, and informing our newly launched Results Guarantee.
Calibrate was designed as a metabolic health company — not a diet or weight loss program — to bring effective treatment and care to the 9 out of 10 American adults who are in poor metabolic health. To track improvements in metabolic health, we look at key metabolic markers, which we track by measuring waist circumference, glucose, blood pressure, triglycerides, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. By creating a category in metabolic health, we can effectively help our members attain clinically significant and sustained weight loss, and achieve metabolic health through the combination of doctor-prescribed GLP-1 medication and an entirely virtual, holistic intensive lifestyle intervention (ILI).
What’s more, we’re the only platform to have access to longitudinal data. This data will enable us to demonstrate the power of our results over time, ultimately moving us towards our mission to change the way the world treats weight. To do this, we are committed to reporting on our outcomes metrics annually, and to improving and expanding upon evidence, collection, and reporting over time.
In partnership with our Clinical Advisory Board, we designed The Results Report as a comprehensive look at population-level data from our members. Our members’ individual stories and successes are unique to them, but there’s strength in numbers. That’s why we’re the only program to show the de-identified outcomes from all of our members: exhaustive and collective real results so members know what they can expect from Calibrate and the world can see how we’re establishing a new standard of care.
Here’s what we found: our earliest members lost an average of 15% of their body weight, exceeding the 10% results from the most effective GLP-1 clinical trials, saw an average 6.4 inch reduction in waist circumference, and 75% of pre-diabetic members returned to normal HbA1C levels, showing an improvement in blood sugar that impacts both diabetes and other health conditions. Additionally we saw significant improvements in LDL cholesterol, inflammation, glucose, and triglycerides.
However, our program offers more. Calibrate has never been about how our members look, but about the results they can feel. The small lifestyle changes our members have made throughout the course of their Calibrate year have led to significant improvements across a range of metabolic health categories (food, sleep, energy, and emotional health) — with 83% of members reporting improved eating habits.
What’s more, we’ve established that Calibrate is effective and sustainable. We know that 80% of people who lose weight are likely to regain it within two years, yet, consumers continue to spend billions of dollars annually — in fact, nearly $300 billion — on weight loss services and programs that simply do not last. With each program comes a new set of rules that require constant and rigid adherence, which have been shown not to work.
To break the cycle, we give our members the tools and support they need to achieve and sustain metabolic health in the life they’re already living to set them up for long-term success. Our comprehensive curriculum and 1:1 real-time, video accountability coaching helps members create a new and sustainable day-to-day that they can control and take with them long after Calibrate — so their results can last.
Our members are building on their results and have plans to take the lifestyle changes they’ve learned beyond their first year on the program. Here’s what they said: 93% of members say Calibrate is more effective than other programs, 93% say that Calibrate’s lifestyle changes are sustainable, and 100% of members say they will take the behavior changes with them beyond their year with Calibrate.
While our understanding of obesity as a chronic condition is rapidly accelerating, there are still barriers to overcome in accessing treatment. Any doctor can prescribe medication, but most providers lack the resources to provide the kind of integrated care and lifestyle changes needed to sustain lasting results. Moreover, obtaining medication coverage for GLP-1s can be a difficult and time-intensive process. Calibrate’s proprietary Vertical Pharmacy Engine enables access to the most affordable medication for individuals as well as their insurance plans via co-pays and total costs paid, respectively. This navigation fundamentally increases medication access, building a flywheel between greater outcomes and greater access as payors recognize the real world results.
I’m proud of Team Calibrate for navigating these hurdles so that we can provide effective treatment. Among our members: 84% agree that Calibrate doctors helped them find the right prescription and dosage, and minimize side effects, 89% agree that Calibrate made it easy for them to get prescriptions covered by their insurance, and 91% agree that their Calibrate coach helped them implement goals to achieve greater results than medication alone.
Our mission to change the way the world treats weight is simple but audacious, and we are proving that this mission is within our reach by delivering best-in-class outcomes and sharing our results data openly.
That’s why we’re doubling down on our results and launching The Calibrate Results Guarantee. The guarantee was informed by the results we shared today, promising a program refund for any eligible member who does not see a minimum of 10% weight loss within one year on Calibrate’s One-Year Metabolic Reset.
We launched Calibrate with an outcomes-based model in a system that is still fee-for-service, and I’m endlessly proud of the way our Results Guarantee extends this commitment.
By addressing the body’s underlying biology and the environmental, genetic, and hormonal factors that impact weight, we have established the standard of care in obesity treatment. Real results matter, and as more of our members reach milestone markers within the program, we are committed to continuing to measure and share their outcomes to inform consumers and healthcare providers of the standard of care in obesity treatment.
